Did You Know That Sephora Offers FREE Beauty Classes?
If you haven’t attended a beauty class at Sephora, put it on your to-do list! I like to think I’m pretty savvy in terms of makeup and beauty trends, but there’s always something new to learn!
The classes are taught on a variety of topics including, Winged Eyeliner, Perfect Lips, Bold Smoky Eye, and the No Makeup Makeup Look, just to name a few. Recently, one of my girlfriends and I decided to attend a class. Not only was it a blast, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much I learned. The beauty consultants were amazing and super knowledgeable (no surprise there).
So How Does it Work?
Choose the class you want to attend and sign up online. At my Sephora, classes are held from 9:00am-10:30am on Sunday mornings a few times a month. My mall doesn’t open until 11:00am on Sundays so this gives the beauty consultants time to clean up the store before it opens, plus the “students” get an extra half hour to shop and the ability to continue asking questions/trying out products before the doors open!
Beauty Class Is In Session
The doors open promptly at 9am.When we arrived we had to check-in and then a beauty consultant tested our skin with the Color IQ. The Color IQ scans your face to get the EXACT shade of your skin tone.
Side Note: You seriously NEED to do this. It will change how you purchase makeup. I’ve never been a ‘fair’ shade of anything, yet after getting my results I was surprised to see that in one brand, I was. You Color IQ results will give you a whole list of products that are a perfect match for your skin tone! The results will be added to your Sephora.com beauty profile and emailed to you.
After getting our Color IQ, a beauty consultant took us around the store and filled a basket for us with products that matched our skin tone, that we would need to create the look. The topic of the class we attended was the No Makeup Makeup Look, so our baskets contained a BB/CC cream, concealer, eyeshadow palette, and brow pencil.
The Set Up
The store was set up with a long table in the middle, and a station for each student. Your station included your own mirror, the professional makeup brushes that you would need to apply your makeup, and a beauty blender. It also included the essentials like cotton swabs, makeup remover, alcohol and disposable makeup tools.
The table was FILLED with all of the other product you would need as a base; moisturizer, eye cream, and lip treatments as well as everything else we would need to complete the look such as mascara, lip sticks/stains, and blush.
These classes are more than just putting on makeup. There is an instructor who shows you how to achieve the technique on a model. Then, you get to try it out yourself, step-by-step and bring those skills home with you. We had a ton of fun! I tried so many different products I’ve been wanting to try and I learned a lot more than I thought I would.
Here are my tips for getting the most out of your Sephora Beauty Class:
1. SIGN UP EARLY – Find a class here
2. ARRIVE EARLY – This class was so full that there was an overflow table- Not as fabulous as the main table, but still had all of the necessities
3. BRING A FRIEND – Everything is more fun with girlfriends
4. ASK QUESTIONS – You have pros at your disposal, take advantage
5. TRY EVERYTHING – Try more products than the basics that are given to you
Bonus: As with any trip to Sephora, don’t forget your free samples before you leave! Just ask a consultant to get you samples of the products you’d like to bring home!
Even if you think you’re an expert, I highly recommend attending one of these classes. Plus, who can say no to FREE?
