Skincare is my JAM

I love skincare products, and I do play favorites when it comes to certain brands. One of my all-time favorite brands is Philosophy. It was one of the first higher end skincare brands that I tried many years ago and it’s still a tried and true favorite. Even when I decide to switch up my skincare routine, I always go back to this brand, particularly the Purity Made Simple Cleanser. Not only is it incredibly gentle on my skin, but it also removes all of my makeup!

Purity Made Simple Cleanser by Philosophy. Not only it is so gently, but it removes all of my makeup. I always stay stocked up on this beauty product.
{Fun Fact: Did you know that this little beauty was the first product ever made by Philosophy in 1996?}

After buying this brand for many years and stalking the various stores/websites that carry it, I’ve picked up a few tips on how to save on one of my favorite skincare brands. I’ve got 5 places where you can buy Philosophy skincare products for less. Let me start with the first and most mysterious…

1. Sephora

Did you know that Sephora has secret, mystery deals on Philosophy products? Why do I call them secret, mystery deals? These secret, mystery deals are actually Philosophy value sets that you won’t find in the “Weekly Wow”. They are unadvertised sets at an AMAZING price AND you can actually get FREE FULL-SIZED products with these sets!

Here are some examples of what my research has uncovered {insert nerd face emoji here}:

When I first discovered these sets, I couldn’t believe the deal I was getting. It was a 16 oz. Purity Made Simple Cleanser (regular price $36) PLUS a set of Purity Made Simple Cloths (regular price $10) for around $24! And by the way, $24 is the cost of an 8 oz. bottle! So I was getting twice the amount of cleanser, PLUS a set of cleansing cloths for less than I would pay for that 16 oz. bottle I was planning on purchasing.

BUT, then something terrible happened. I got distracted and never completed my online purchase. Less than 24 hours later, I returned to my cart to checkout. When I clicked on the product that was in my cart, I was redirected to that dreaded screen that says, “We’re sorry! This page no longer exists”. I was so bummed! That amazing steal slipped right through my fingers. I decided I would keep my eyes peeled until I could find the deal again. I checked Sephora almost daily and about a month later the deal returned. And you know that I tapped “checkout” as soon as it was in my cart!

Initially, I thought maybe this was just a fluke. However, since then I have come across these type of Philosophy deals on Sephora many times, but they’re never available for long!

Case in point, my latest purchase.

I’ve never tried any of Philosophy’s acne fighting products and as a 30-something year old woman, I never would have thought I’d be purchasing these at this point in my life, but here we are. So, I was planning on purchasing the Clear Days Ahead Cleanser but as I was browsing online, I spotted this deal for just $17!

Philosophy Clear Days Ahead Cleanser and Acne Spot Treatment Set for $17 at Sephora. What a deal!
Clear Days Ahead Cleanser and Acne Spot Treatment Set for $17 at Sephora. What a steal!

The Clear Days Ahead Acne Spot Treatment (in this size 0.5 oz.) alone is $19! The cleanser in the 3 oz. size is not sold separately at Sephora, but an 8 oz. bottle on the Philosophy website sells for $22. Needless to say, I purchased this instantly as I know how these deals work. The next day when I received my tracking info, I tapped on the item number to view that glorious deal again, and once again I got the dreaded message “We’re sorry! This page no longer exists”, POOF! This little mystery deal was gone once again (however, by the time I actually got around to publishing this post, it had returned). If it’s still available, you can find it here.

And, check out this fabulous deal currently available…

Philosophy Brand skincare value sets at Sephora! Don't miss out on these steals

$69 worth of products for $39! The Purity Made Simple Cleanser alone in the 16 oz. size would cost you $36. How could you turn this down?! To buy each of these items individually, you would be spending $69! These value sets are a no-brainer!

So, I call these mystery deals because…

  1. They are always unadvertised
  2. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to when/how long they’re available…but they do return.

FYI: They do usually state “limited edition” and are only available online.

Another interesting point to mention:

On at least one other occasion, I added a value set to my cart and received the “out of stock ” message when I returned to purchase it. So, I clicked “Email me once back in stock”. However, when it returned, it had a different item number, and therefore I did not receive an e-mail notification. I happen to notice it was back in stock by my usual browsing. Maybe this was just a glitch, but I say, keep your eyes peeled folks!

Though I do not work for Sephora or have any knowledge of their sale records/strategy, in my opinion, it seems like they only sell a limited number of value sets at these prices, then bring them back periodically.

As a skincare junkie and pro shopper, here’s my advice:

  • You definitely get the most bang for your buck with these value sets!
  • If you’re a fan of Philosophy products or have been wanting to try this brand, snag one of these sets!
  • Know what products you’re looking for before the deals pop up!
  • When you see these sets available, BUY THEM, don’t wait!
  • If you find a super fabulous value set, but then it’s gone, check back frequently. In my experience, it will reappear.

  1. That’s so interesting! I never knew about these deals! It really pays to have patience sometimes! No need to overpay. I currently don’t have any Philosophy products, but I have used that cleanser. I really liked it but thought it was too expensive. I will have to look out for these deals!

  2. I’ve never tried any Philosophy skincare products but I’ve heard good things about them. I see what you’re talking about, I’m on Sephora right now and I see a few products with the limited edition for very get prices. This post is great and is very helpful!

  3. I haven’t used much philosophy but I do love the pore extractor and the purity wipes! I will definitely be on the lookout for the next Beauty IQ philosophy steal! Great post!

  4. I’ve seen Philosophy products everywhere but never tried them, I’ll have to check them out! I second shopping at TJ Maxx and Marshalls for great deals on skincare/makeup. I think people forget how much awesome stuff they have!

  5. Philosophy has the BEST products, and I’m always on the lookout for a discount. TJ Max is a great idea, I never even thought of looking at discount stores for anything other than clothes and shoes!

  6. I love philosophy! Their face moisturizer if my fav but it’s like $40! My husband freaks out every time he sees it in the bathroom counter lol. I’m totally checking out the value sets now, thanks mama!

  7. Skin care is one of the hardest parts of budgeting for me. I have to be super careful about my skincare products, and can’t use any with hormone disruptors or chemicals in them. Amazingly, though, I can sometimes find great deals on these at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. I also find them at Sprouts Famers Market and HEB.
