You can’t make a purchase in a store without hearing the phrase, “Can I have your e-mail address?”.
I know, signing up for e-mail lists can be such a nuisance at times. I feel like I can constantly removing myself from some list I don’t remember signing up for. However, when it comes to those store e-mail lists, I never hit that ‘unsubscribe’ button.
You never know what great deal will come through your e-mail that you need (or maybe didn’t know you needed).
Have you been eyeing a particular item at a store, but don’t want to pay full price? Whether it’s a new dress, or a TV, get on that store’s e-mail list to find out about upcoming sales, receive coupon codes, and free shipping deals! As you get those daily e-mails, you will start to learn the patterns that certain stores have. Are there coupon codes every day/week? Great! Keep watching, 20% may seem like a good deal, but maybe that particular store offers 40% at times. Maybe they offer free shipping periodically, such as around holiday weekends. You’ll become a pro at recognizing what a good deal at each of your favorite stores is.
I especially love retailers that send out coupon codes for X amount off your next purchase. That translates into FREE STUFF! I received one of those codes recently for $25 off my order, which meant I was able to treat myself to a free pair of sandals (free shipping included). Score!
When there is something I am dying to have but it’s priced a little higher than I want to spend, I watch and wait. If I must, must have it, and no deals have come through in a week or two, I usually purchase it anyways because I’m too impatient to wait any longer and don’t want to take the chance of it being out of stock. There are a few stores I shop at that offer free shipping and coupon codes so frequently that I never purchase anything from there without those sales.
Another upside of e-mail lists? Free Birthday gifts for you!
In all seriousness, this is one of the main reasons that I love my birthday month so much! The coupons for free items, free shipping, discounts, free store credit, you name it, they make it worth it! And don’t forget about your local businesses too! There is a local spa where I used to get a free birthday manicure every year on my birthday, simply because I was on their e-mail list. Before having kids, I used to take a whole, glorious day to myself, shopping and spending each of these coupons at their various locations, topping it off with my free manicure (Excuse me while I mentally checkout, and reminisce for a moment…).
Finding out about new products is another benefit.
There are some stores, particularly clothing stores that change out their inventory quite frequently. If you’re in the market for something specific, like a new bathing suit or Fall boots for example, getting on their e-mail list is a great way to find out when new items are released.
